The UK Adult ESOL Core Curriculum is the curriculum introduced by the Department of Education and Skills for learners of English in England. (‘ESOL’ means ‘English for Speakers of Other Languages’.) It is part of a national strategy to improve the literacy, language and numeracy skills of adults in England, and it is based on new national standards for speaking, listening, reading and writing. There are three levels of these standards: Entry level, Level 1 and Level 2. Entry level is divided into three further levels: Entry 1, Entry 2 and Entry 3.
