About the author
Jeanne Shay Schumm, PhD
, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Teaching and Learning in the School of Education at the University of Miami. She has experience teaching reading and writing to students in grades K-12 in both classroom and resource settings. Dr. Schumm has coauthored or authored over 75 chapters and articles, and has recently coedited Promising Practices for Urban Reading Instruction and coauthored the fourth edition of Teaching Exceptional, Diverse, and At-Risk Students in the General Education Classroom.
